 NATSU

The S/S 2012 NATSU collection pays homage to Japanese art, vintage kimono prints and the bold, bright colors and geometric designs of the Art Deco era. Drawing inspiration from woodblock patterns, printmaking, weaving, silk-painting and artistic traditions originating in Japan, NATSU’s designs are also informed by the color palettes and minimalist compositions in artist Kenzo Okada’s series of abstract paintings.

Taking cues from the formal arrangement of objects and repetitive prints in traditional Japanese textiles, A PEACE TREATY interprets classic Japanese textile techniques such as Shibori, Katazome and Tsutsugaki dyeing, Kasuri Ikat weaving and Katagami stencil printing. All of NATSU’s handmade silk noile, silky cotton and crepe silk scarves are made using signature A PEACE TREATY methods of production: hand dip-dying, hand-blockprinting, hand-carved silkscreen printing and hand-weaving.
