SOBERANA, APT’s debut RESORT collection, is inspired by the cosmopolitan and avant-garde women of the 1970’s who spent their vacations retreating to the Pacific Ocean, away from the bustling city. This series of scarves and caftans recalls the allure of the era, drawing from the stories of Talitha Getty, Carly Simon, and our very own bohemian mothers. Like these infamous women mavens, scarves have transcended time, making their way from the bazaars of Marrakesh to the sunny beaches of the West Coast.
Following the trail of the ancient Silk Road, this collection draws a connective thread between Eastern antiquity and Western pop culture. All pieces are handwoven in the Indian states of Bihar and Chhattisgarh using tones of the Baja sunset. Made of raw silk noil, the collection is brought to life by artisans employing the centuries old sustainable techniques of hand spinning and hand dyeing. These SOBERANA pieces, simultaneously effortless and lux, are made for both lazing in front of the glistening waves and gallivanting around the lively city streets.
